Hyundai Teases INSTEROID Concept

Hyundai has teased a new concept car based on the compact Inster model, which it says will be revealed to the public for the first time next month.

The new concept – dubbed the INSTEROID has been created to harness ‘unrestrained creativity’ and ‘to deepen the emotional connection with the Hyundai brand’, with teaser images suggesting it will be at the opposite end of the scale to the small EV on which it is based.

The one-off concept sits on 21 inch wheels and features a huge rear spoiler and diffuser which would look more at home on Hyundai’s i20 N Rally1 currently doing battle in the World Rally Championship.

A number of video game-inspired elements can also be seen in the images which Hyundai says reflects a ‘thrilling glitch in the automotive matrix’ and aims to combine the ‘boundary-pushing aesthetics of video games with real-world engineering’.

Whilst the INSTEROID remains a concept, Hyundai has already shown how it can develop a high performance version of one of its EV models following the launch of the IONIQ 5 N.
