Vertu Trophy Competition Winners Get Set For Wembley Finale
Birmingham City and Peterborough United aren’t the only ones hoping to walk away from Wembley Stadium with a large prize this weekend when the 2025 Vertu Trophy Final takes place.
The two sides are chasing their third wins in the competition, with Birmingham City bidding to take victory for the first time since 1995 and Peterborough looking to become the first team ever to defend the title – having scored a dramatic late victory twelve months ago.
The final will also mark the final stage of the competition launched by Vertu earlier this year offering a Toyota Aygo X as the top prize – with two fans winning tickets to attend the game where they will go head-to-head to try and win the car.
Lee Phillips from Birmingham and David Berry from Ilkeston were the two lucky names drawn at random to win a pair of tickets to the game, where Lee will be joined by his nine-year-old son Roman and David will watch on alongside his wife Julie.
As well as enjoying hospitality before the game, Lee and David will be given the honour of carrying the Vertu Trophy onto the pitch before kick-off and at half-time, will then take part in a special event to determine who wins the car.
Both will take three shots from the side of the pitch towards a target in the centre circle, with three scoring zones for each shot. Whoever scores highest from their three shots wins the car!
Lee Phillips said: “I didn’t believe it at first when I got the email to tell me that I’d won tickets to attend the final but once I realised it was real, I couldn’t believe it. When I told my son that I’d won, he burst into tears of joy and that started me off as it’s going to be a special day to head to Wembley and cheer on Birmingham City in the final.
“The prospect of winning a car whilst we’re there is unbelievable, and if I was to come away with the Toyota at the end of it, it would be the icing and the cherry on top of the cake!”
David Berry said: “It’s an overused cliche I know, but I have never won anything, EVER, despite entering various competitions. I saw the competition on Notts County’s Facebook page back in January and loved the prospect of winning tickets to a great venue to watch a cup final whoever made it – although as a season ticket holder, I was hoping that Notts County would make it!
“As for the possibility of winning a new car; who wouldn’t want that! I’m sure it’s going to be a great day and I’m still pinching myself about the fact that I’ll be there and could end up with a new car afterwards!”
The Vertu Trophy final kicks off at 3pm on Sunday, and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
