Vertu Motors plc Backs Northern Leader's Trust Community Champion Award

Vertu Motors plc was honoured to sponsor an award at this year's Northern Leader's Trust (NLT) Community Champion Awards held recently in Newcastle.

The prestigious event, designed to recognise and celebrate the remarkable contributions of students from primary and secondary schools across the North East, saw various key companies from the region come together in support.

The awards provide a unique platform for young individuals to be acknowledged for their outstanding community contributions, offering them the chance to stand out and shine. In addition to Vertu Motors, sponsors included prominent local organisations such as Greggs, Newcastle Eagles, and Newcastle Chronicle serving as the media partner for the event.

Guest speakers, including Chi Onwuhra MP and Lioness Jill Scott, graced the evening, delivering inspiring speeches to the young attendees. The event celebrated not only the students’ achievements but also the supportive community that encourages and nurtures their growth.

Vertu Motors, a national automotive retailer group who’s head office is based locally in Team Valley, Gateshead, provided a £150 All 4 One voucher to the Special Recognition Award winner Jack Helm. In addition to this prize, Robert Forrester, the Group’s Chief Executive, gave a heartfelt message of congratulations that was played during the ceremony alongside messages from other sponsors.

Jack is in Year 10 and competes as a gymnast. He made the Team GB Gymnastics Qualifiers in March. Performing to an exceptionally high standard, he has been selected to represent Team GB in Buka in Azerbaijan in October in the European Championships.

After going through an awful lot and coming to live with his grandparents at the age of eight, Jack was lost, confused and had no confidence. He had a passion for gymnastics as a small child and that’s what he has poured his heart and soul into, completing 9 hours of training a week.

He also fundraises to enable him to compete in international competitions. Jack is always a team player, helping others and working hard. He is an inspiration to his teammates, his family and the community and proves that you can achieve your dreams if you put all you have into something you love.

Robert Forrester commented: “We are immensely proud to be part of an event that recognises the incredible efforts of young individuals in our community. Their dedication and passion for making a positive impact are truly inspiring.

“At Vertu, we believe in supporting and encouraging the next generation, and this event is a perfect reflection of that commitment. Jack is a very worthy winner of the Special Recognition Award, and we will be watching his gymnastics career with great admiration. Good luck, Jack!”
