Vertu Expands Food Drive With 50,000 Community Collection Bags

After the overwhelming success of last month’s Vertu Food Drive, which saw dealerships across Scotland deliver carloads of essential food supplies to local foodbanks, Vertu is taking its commitment to fighting food insecurity even further.
Vertu is now launching a new initiative, distributing 50,000 food collection bags to readers, customers, and local communities. The goal? Make it easier than ever for people to donate food and support those in need.
A Simple Way To Make A Big Difference
From this month, 50,000 reusable food collection bags will be made available to readers, customers and local communities, and available to collect at all Vertu dealerships across Scotland, including locations in Dunfermline, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Ayr.
Customers are encouraged to pick up a bag, fill it with non-perishable food items, and return it to their nearest foodbank.
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, explains why the company is expanding its food drive initiative:
“The generosity we witnessed during the Vertu Food Drive was truly inspiring. It was clear that people wanted to help, so to take it a step further we decided to provide the community with a way to donate easily.
“By distributing 50,000 food collection bags, we’re creating a longer-term solution that allows more people to contribute in a meaningful way. Just picking up a bag, adding a few essential items, and dropping it off at your local foodbank can make a massive difference.”
Why This Initiative Matters
Foodbanks across Scotland continue to face growing demand, particularly during the colder months and school holidays when families struggle with additional costs. Many rely on donations to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals, and simple food items like pasta, tinned goods, and long-life milk can be lifesaving.
Paige Turley, singer, TV personality, and Glasgow local, who supported the Vertu Food Drive, highlighted the importance of community action:
“Seeing first-hand how much foodbanks depend on community donations really opened my eyes. The fact that Vertu is providing 50,000 bags to encourage ongoing support is incredible. If we all do a little, we can achieve a lot.”
