The New Volvo XC90 is Here and Better Than Ever Before
Volvo's award-winning SUV has been given a raft of technology, interior and exterior upgrades.
Since its release in 2002, the XC90 has gone onto become Volvo’s flagship SUV racking up award wins. One of the most recent accolades being the ‘Best Seven-Seater' title in the 2024 Auto Trader New Car Awards.
But if you didn’t already love the XC90, it’s now better than ever after receiving technology, interior and exterior upgrades.

Hybrid power
If you want to experience the benefits of electric power with the added reassurance of a petrol engine, then the Volvo XC90 is the ideal choice. The plug-in hybrid SUV allows you to drive in pure EV mode for more than 70km (WLTP) on a single charge.
Recent data from Volvo shows that around 50% of the distance covered by their latest plug-in hybrid cars is using electric power.*
As well as plug-in hybrid versions, there are also two mild-hybrid powertrains on offer with a 48V lithium-ion battery. Both can help to reduce emissions and fuel consumption by up to 15% in real-world driving.
Safety at the forefront
As with every car in their line-up, safety is at the heart of the new Volvo XC90. Features include an advanced safety cage, and a comprehensive range of active safety features.
A radar and front camera can help to steer you safely back into your own lane if it detects that you’ve drifted into another lane. It can also provide braking and steering to avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.
Redesigned cabin
With seats for up to seven passengers, the Volvo XC90 offers a comfortable ride for all onboard.
For the ultimate comfort, optional air suspension works alongside an active chassis. This monitors the car, road and driver 500 times per second to tailor the most comfortable ride.
The air suspension is also great if you need ease of access to the XC90. It can lower itself by 20mm or raise itself by 40mm. This also improves aerodynamics when travelling at higher speeds. As well as providing additional height for uneven terrains.
The Scandinavian inspired design incorporates recycled materials and a redesigned horizontal dashboard. While more storage space has been added following feedback from existing XC90 owners. Wireless phone chargers have also been introduced behind the central tunnel.
