Sunderland Miss Out In End Of Season Affair
Sunderland slipped to defeat in their final away game of the EFL Championship season, with Watford taking all three points at Vicarage Road.
Neither team went into the match with anything to play for in terms of promotion or relegation and it was reflected in how the game panned out.
Sunderland arguably created the better chances in the game but most of those came after the home side had taken the lead through Ryan Andrews.
His goal shortly after the hour mark came following a fine chance for Jack Clarke to open the scoring for the visitors, with Sunderland then forcing Daniel Bachmann into a number of saves whilst chasing an equaliser.
Sunderland would end the game with more possession and more efforts on goal but were unable to find the equaliser, with interim head coach Mike Dodds declaring himself happy with the performance but upset with the end result.
The Black Cats will finish off with a home game against Sheffield Wednesday at the Stadium of Light.
