- From a spring clean, to getting outdoors, read our top wellbeing tips.
- These changes are great for both your physical and mental wellbeing.
The days are longer, temperatures are getting warmer, that can only mean one thing. Spring has finally sprung! With the longer days, it brings more opportunities to do what you love and try new things.
Discover our top five spring wellbeing tips below.
1. Get out in the garden
If you have green fingers, there’s nothing more satisfying than getting out in the garden and transforming it for spring.
Gardening is a great way to get out in the fresh air and clear your mind of any stresses or worries. It can also improve your physical health by increasing mobility and exercise.
A few things you can do to spruce up your garden include:
- Keeping on top of weeds as warmer temperatures can accelerate their growth.
- Plant some new flowers – daffodils, snowdrops, and hyacinths all thrive in spring temperatures.
2. Make time for exercise
Exercise is vital all year round, but it can be more difficult to find motivation during the cold winter months. Warmer temperatures can give you that much needed boost to carve out some time for exercise.
Even a short walk can make a massive difference to your health and mood. The sunshine will also give you some much needed Vitamin D, which supports your immune health, muscle function, and brain.
3. Try out new recipes
In the winter we tend to favour warming stews and comfort foods to counteract the colder temperatures. But when spring finally arrives, it’s a great chance to opt for fresh, light foods and incorporate seasonal vegetables.
Some spring vegetables include:
- Rhubarb
- Spring greens
- Purple sprouting broccoli
- Cauliflower
- New potatoes
- Radishes
- Asparagus
3. Have a spring clean
Now is a great opportunity to have a look through your cupboards and wardrobe to pass on any items you no longer use. The old saying goes tidy house, tidy mind, and it’s exactly right! If you do have any unwanted items, donate them to your local charity shop, or sell them at your local car boot sale.
4. Make plans to look forward to
It’s always nice to have plans to look forward to and the spring/summer months are the perfect opportunity to make new memories. Whether it’s a holiday abroad, in this country, or just a day out, having plans can give you that much needed mood boost.
