Smart #3 Crowned What Car? Best Electric Small SUV
The second model in smart’s EV line-up was praised for its high-quality interior and value for money.
Back in 2019, smart was the first manufacturer to make the transition from ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicles to selling purely all-electric models. As the brand entered a new era, along came two new models - the smart #1 and smart #3.
Despite only being released last year, the smart #3 is already making an impact and was recently honoured in the What Car? 2024 Electric Car Awards.
The smart #3 was named Best Electric Small SUV by the UK’s biggest car-buying brand. In 2020, the annual awards were introduced as more drivers made the switch to electric cars.
It was praised for its sleek and efficient design, as well as offering a comfortable ride comparable to the Volvo EC40. With prices starting from £33,000 OTR, What Car? commended the Premium line for its value-for-money offering.
smart #3 – range, performance powertrain
Built on the same platform as the smart #1, the smart #3 offers a maximum range of up to 283 miles (WLTP). Using a fast charger, you can power the battery from 10-80% in around 30 minutes.
Accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.8 seconds, or 3.7 seconds if you opt for the BRABUS line.

The sleek design of the smart #3 not only looks good, but also contributes to the aerodynamic performance of the car. This is all thanks to a new rear spoiler which reduces wind resistance and helps to improve range.
While a large panoramic roof creates a more spacious interior and also blocks heat and most UV radiation.

Inside the interior, large bucket seats stand out with unique design elements and provide luxurious comfort.
Taking centre stage is the large 12.8” central display which unlocks endless options in the smart #3. This includes ambient lighting options and all your connectivity needs.
