Plymouth Frustrated In Swansea Loss
Plymouth Argyle boss Wayne Rooney admitted to being frustrated after seeing his side slip to defeat at home to Swansea City.
The Vertu-backed side went up against their Welsh rivals after two successive defeats looking to take a win that would move the Pilgrims away from the drop zone in the EFL Championship.
Plymouth went into the game with a new name alongside Rooney in the dugout after the Club brought in the former Manchester United assistant boss Mike Phelen in place of Pete Shuttleworth after he departed for personal reasons.
Having made six changes to the side beaten by Bristol City in the previous outing, Plymouth started slowly and could have gone behind had Jay Fulton been able to get on the end of a cross early on.
Plymouth however almost then grabbed the lead themselves, with Mustapha Bundu turning sharply inside the box sending an angled shot beyond ‘keeper Lawrence Vigouroux and back off the post.
Just when it looked like Argyle would remain level at the break, Swansea took the lead as Brendan Galloway failed to deal with a cross into the box and Fulton was on hand to smash the ball beyond Dan Grimshaw into the net.
Swansea doubled their lead after an hour when Liam Cullen netted from close range and although Argyle got one back when Bundu nodded in when an effort from Kornel Szucs rebounded off the bar.
Argyle now face a tricky trip to Sheffield United this weekend looking to end the current losing run.
