A difficult start to the Vitality Blast continued for Nottinghamshire, with the team now without a win after the first five games of the group stage.

After defeats to Northamptonshire and Birmingham in the opening two games, the Vertu Motors-backed side welcomed Worcestershire to Trent Bridge for game three.

Worcestershire batted first and were in serious trouble when six wickets tumbled in the first half of the innings to leave the visitors on 58-6.

Nathan Smith hit a career best of 51 not out to help his side recover to 154-8 by the close of the innings and he was amongst the wickets in a disciplined bowling display as Notts struggled with the bat following the early loss of both Joe Clarke and Alex Hales for single figure scores.

Will Young top-scored with 25, but Nottinghamshire could only reach 134-7 to fall to defeat by 20 runs.

From there, Nottinghamshire headed for Derbyshire for a local derby and made a solid start with the ball when Aneurin Donald was caught off the bowling of Ben Lister without scoring.

David Lloyd and Cam Fletcher fell in the same over to leave the home side on 45-3 before Wayne Madsen hit a half century and Ross Whiteley smashed 46 off just 16 balls to set a target of 199 for victory.

Clarke’s dismissal with the first ball when he was caught off the bowling of Daryn Dupavillon set the tone for a difficult innings however, with no batsman able to reach 20 as three wickets each for Dupavillon, Whiteley and Pat Brown saw Notts dismissed for 102.

Clarke was again dismissed without scoring in the next game against Lancashire, with Young and Hales also falling cheaply before Jack Haynes and Liam Patterson-White – on his debut - both hit 40+ to help set a target of 154 for victory.

Keaton Jennings however proved to be the main man for Lancashire as he his 64 from 49 balls to help lead his side to victory by six wickets, leaving Nottinghamshire still chasing a first win in the competition this season.
