Nissan, Renault To Work Together On New City Car

Nissan will add another new electric vehicle to its line-up after revealing it would work with Renault on a variant of the new Twingo, which is scheduled to be released in 2026.

Renault revealed plans to reboot the Twingo name last year, with a prototype version of a small EV - pictured - being shown off for the first time at the Paris Motor Show back in October.

As part of the alliance between the two manufacturers – as well as Mitsubishi – Renault will now move ahead with development of a version of the Twingo on behalf of Nissan, with the A-segment EV due to arrive on the market in 2026.

Nissan will design the car which will then be produced through Ampere, the electric vehicle company launched by Groupe Renault back in 2023.

The Twingo-based model is the second new Nissan announced for production at Ampere ElectriCity plant in less than a week, after the news that the Micra is to be relaunched on the same platform as the new Renault 5 E-Tech.
