New diesel engine for popular Jeep Cherokee
Jeep's Cherokee has received a new diesel engine as part of the popular range's upgrade.
Joining the pre-existing two-litre diesel 140hp manual units will be a 2.2litre MultiJet engine available with outputs of 185hp and 200hp. This Euro6 compliant engine will offer a wider spread of torque from low rpm, greater power, improved performance and better fuel economy than previous versions.
The 2.2 MultiJet II engine can now be ordered in UK Cherokee models and is expected to place the Jeep SUV amongst the top models of its class for performance
The new engine is available with Jeep's segment-first nine-speed automatic gearbox, and is matched to the Active-Drive four-wheel-drive systems.
Extra specifications have also been added across the Cherokee range, including electric tailgate, windscreen wipers with rain sensor, dusk sensor, eight-position electrically adjustable seat, four-position lumbar adjustment and automatic anti-dazzle rear-view mirror with built-in microphone.
The Cherokee has a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating and buyers of the 200hp version of the latest engine will also have the option of the extra Technology group pack. This includes advanced Brake Assist, Lane Departure Warning Plus, Adaptive Cruise Control and a rear parallel parking assist system, amongst others.
