Jaguar Reveals Radical Glimpse Of The Future
Jaguar has given a glimpse of what the future will be like for the iconic brand after taking the covers off the Type 00 – a radical concept car with ‘bold forms and exuberant proportions to inspire future Jaguars’.
Revealed as part of Miami Art Week, the unveiling of the Type 00 is part of the rebrand of the famous name as it prepares to move into a new era that will see only EV cars on sale from 2026.
Jaguar has already ended sales of the current generation of cars ahead of the switch with a desire to recapture the ethos of ‘Copy Nothing’ being reflected in the design of the concept car revealed in the USA.
The Type 00 – combining the history of cars of the past like the E-Type with 00 used to reflect zero emissions – is certainly eye-catching, even without the vibrant colour scheme, thanks to a long bonnet, sweeping roofline and huge 23 inch wheels.
The concept includes a glassless rear, butterfly doors and an interior that features screens that ‘glide silently and theatrically from the dashboard’ but which can also be hidden away if required.
Rear view cameras and charging points are all hidden away within the design, which includes the famous ‘leaper’ alongside the recently revealed new Jaguar logo.
“Type 00 is a pure expression of Jaguar’s new creative philosophy. It has an unmistakable presence,” Professor Gerry McGovern, JLR Creative Officer, said.
“This is the result of brave, unconstrained creative thinking, and unwavering determination. It is our first physical manifestation and the foundation stone for a new family of Jaguars that will look unlike anything you’ve ever seen. A vision which strives for the highest level of artistic endeavour.”
The first new production Jaguar is set to be revealed in late 2025 and will take the form of a four door GTG car that will target a range of up to 478 miles between charges.
