Hyundai Scores Double Win From UK Car Of The Year Awards

Hyundai is the only manufacturer that will have two cars in the running for the overall UK Car of the Year after picking up a pair of category victories with the Ioniq 5 N and the Santa Fe.
The Ioniq 5 N was named as Best Performance Car, an accolade it had already been given by both Autocar and Auto Express, to secure a place on the list of contenders for the overall award, which will be announced on 6 March.
The all-electric model was praised for ‘changing the perception of electric cars more than any other vehicle’ having been widely praised since being launched.
The Santa Fe meanwhile earned a spot in the final seven having been named as Best Large Crossover for its ‘blend of practicality and quality’.
The UK Car of the Year awards have been running since 2014, and are decided by a panel of expert motoring journalists who have driven each new model launched in the UK over the past twelve months.
"The All-new SANTA FE is a beautiful, technically advanced premium SUV, while the IONIQ 5 N has rewritten the rulebook for performance EVs,” Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai & Genesis UK said.
“It is extremely gratifying to see their appeal to customers being confirmed by UKCOTY awards, underlining yet again the depth and quality Hyundai’s current range of cars.”
The Polestar 4 and Suzuki Swift are amongst the other contenders for the top prize.
