Exeter Remain In Contention
Exeter Chiefs retain a chance of making the Gallagher Premiership play-offs after a hard-fought victory away at Gloucester.
The Vertu Motors-backed side went into the game having been beaten by Bath a week earlier, but wasted little time in hitting the front – going ahead within five minutes thanks to a penalty from Henry Slade.
A further penalty from Slade then set up the first try for Jacques Vermeulen and Dan John then scored his first Premiership try – with both converted to earn the Chiefs a 17-0 lead before the 20 minute mark.
Jonny May and Jack Clement replied for Gloucester either side of Olly Woodman going through to score in the corner, earning the visitors a 24-10 lead at half-time.
Immanuel Feyi-Waboso secured the bonus points for Exeter when he add the fourth try on 47 minutes and although Gloucester managed another score of their own, Vermeulen wrapped up the victory when he scored his second try with 20 minutes remaining to leave the score at 38-17.
Exeter sit seventh in the standings with two games left to play this season, with Harlequins still to visit Sandy Park before an away trip to Leicester Tigers wraps things up.
Harlequins are amongst those teams still fighting with the Chiefs for a place in the top four, sitting level on 49 points with Bristol – four clear of Exeter.
