More and more people are choosing to make the switch to an electric car. With many great benefits, it's clear to see why.

The benefits of choosing a Motability electric car
If you’ve never driven an electric car before, you might not realise just how many benefits there are when you switch!
Plenty of range options
Whether you need a car for short daily journeys, or something longer, electric car ranges are constantly improving. With ranges varying from 100 – 300 miles, you are sure to find a range that meets your needs.
Automatic transmission
All electric cars are fitted with an automatic gearbox making them extremely easy to drive. If you’ve never driven an automatic car before, read our guide on making the shift from manual to automatic.
Low running costs
Electric cars have fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel cars, making them more affordable to service and maintain. You can also save money on fuel as electric cars cost a lot less to run per mile.
Zero emissions
When you switch to an electric car you can help to create cleaner air for everyone around you. They are also extremely quiet to drive, which also helps to lower noise pollution. Help with charging If you have access to off-street parking, you could be eligible to have a free home charge point installed.

At Vertu Motors, we offer Motability electric cars from leading manufacturers including Audi, BMW, Honda, Kia, and MINI. As well as Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
Depending on the electric car you choose, some cars are available with no Advance Payment. This means that you can enjoy a new EV for the cost of your mobility allowance, without having to pay any extra.
Motability electric car charging
When you choose an electric car on the Motability Scheme, you have a couple of options for charging. These include:
Home charging
If you are leasing your first Motability electric car, you could be eligible for a free home charger. Motability will arrange everything for you and cover the costs of both the charger and installation.
To be eligible for a free home charger, you need to have access to off-road parking (e.g. a garage or driveway). If you have access to a parking space, but it’s not next to your home or you require an upgrade in electrical equipment, you will need to pay extra.
Public charging
If you don’t have access to off-street parking, there’s no need to worry. You can still gain access to the bp pulse public charging network. The network has over 7,000 public chargers, making it easy to charge your Motability electric car on the move.
Motability Go Charge
As part of your Motability package, you can make the most of your new electric car with the Go Charge card and app.
Go Charge unlocks access to over 45,000 nationwide public charging points from a range of providers. With the app, you can find your nearest EV charger and see if it’s available to use. You can also pay for charging by adding your payment details. If you prefer, you will also receive a card which you can pay with.
Motability Go Charge is free to use and there’s no monthly subscription fee. Simply add your bank details in the app and pay for the electricity you use.
Whether you are a new or existing Motability customer, you can sign up. Simply ask your Motability retailer when you apply or renew your lease and they can arrange this for you. You will then receive a welcome letter before your car arrives.
