EFL Partner Vertu Celebrates Carabao Cup Success For Newcastle United

Vertu has been able to share the celebrations after Newcastle United secured victory in the final of the 2024/25 Carabao Cup.
The award-winning automotive retailer is based at Team Valley, less than five miles away from St James’ Park stadium, and had an extensive presence around Wembley Stadium for the game against Liverpool thanks to its role as an official partner of the EFL.
With a number of Vertu colleagues in attendance, and many more watching at home on TV, Eddie Howe and his side were able to emerge victorious against the current Premier League leaders to secure a first major trophy in more than half a century.
The wait for a major domestic trophy went back even longer, with the 1955 FA Cup final having been the last success for the side.
Having been called up to the England squad for the first time, local lad Dan Burn powered in a first half header to give Newcastle the lead before star striker Alexander Isak doubled the advantage shortly after the break to add to his impressive goal tally for the campaign.
Even though Liverpool managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Federico Chiesa, it was too little, too late as the Newcastle fans were sent into raptures at the final whistle.
The win secured a place in European competition for the Toon Army next season regardless of their final league position, although a spot in the Champions League remains a realistic goal with a gap of just two points to the top four and a game in hand.
As well as ending a trophy drought for the Club, the win made Howe the first English manager to secure a major domestic honour since Harry Redknapp guided Portsmouth to victory in the 2008 FA Cup.
Steve McLaren for North East rivals Middlesbrough was the last English manager to lift the League Cup title four years earlier.
Vertu operates a number of dealerships across Newcastle and the surrounding area, representing Ford, Hyundai, Honda, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Ducati, BMW and MINI.
The company also has partnerships in place with both the Newcastle Theatre Royal and the Newcastle Eagles basketball team, which plays its home games at the Vertu Arena.
