Smart regenerative braking
Offering the latest in vehicle technology has always been high on Kia’s agenda and the EV3 is no different. It’s equipped with upgraded i-Pedal and Smart Regenerative System. Both are designed to deliver a higher level of enjoyment and efficiency.
Kia’s i-Pedal system allows drivers to control the vehicle’s speed and braking using just one pedal. With the latest system, you can also use the i-Pedal to reverse the EV3.
While the Smart Regenerative System offers three braking levels from 0 – 3. Level 0 and 1 are perfect when you want to glide after lifting your foot off the accelerator on long motorway journeys.
Level 2 is suited to country roads, allowing you to slow down the EV3 when approaching corners. Whereas level 3 is great if you quickly need to come to a stop in heavy traffic.
All three can help to maximise the 372-mile (WLTP) range.
Stress free driving
As well as conserving your range, the Smart Regenerative System incorporates a digital co-pilot. This can scan the road ahead and instantly respond to any situation.
When you release your foot off the accelerator, sensors detect the distance between any vehicles ahead of you. The EV3 will then automatically decelerate to a safe speed if needed.
The system relies on navigation-based data to do this and can respond to a number of different situations. If you approach a tight bend, a decrease in speed limit, a speed bump or roundabout when the system is engaged, the EV3 will automatically slow down.
Class-leading range
The Kia EV3 is setting a new standard in the compact SUV segment with an impressive range of up to 372 miles (WLTP).
To help you achieve the maximum range, you can benefit from Driving Range Guide technology. This can be found in the instrument cluster and displays the minimum and maximum ranges that can be achieved based on your driving style.
A green bar on the information cluster will be displayed if the EV3 is being driven efficiently. While an orange bar will be displayed if efficiency isn’t being maximised.
The battery also has a liquid cooling system which optimises battery thermal management when charging. This also in turn helps to enhance charging speeds. Using a 350kW fast charger, the EV3 can be charged from 10-80% in around 31 minutes.
Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology
As Kia continues to lead the way in EV technology, the EV3 marks the first time Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology has been offered in a compact SUV.
This allows the vehicle to power external devices including laptops, a coffee machine, or a small fridge when off-grid.
