BMW Launches Limited Edition M4 CS Edition VR46
BMW has announced the launch of two new limited edition variants of the M4 to celebrate the birthday of BMW M works driver Valentino Rossi.
The Italian – a nine-time Grand Prix motorcycle world champion – moved from two-wheeled competition to four at the conclusion of the 2021 MotoGP season, initially at the wheel of an Audi R8 LMS before inking a deal to become a works driver for BMW ahead of 2023.
Since then Rossi has competed in a number of high-profile sportscar races with BMW Team WRT, including the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Throughout his career, Rossi has been synonymous with the #46 and in order to celebrate his recent 46th birthday, BMW will now launch two variants of a special M4 CS Edition VR46, both of which will be limited to 46 units.
Rossi himself was involved in the design process of both the Sport and Style models, which will include 46 branding throughout and will come with an exclusive personal meeting with the man himself, as well as a BMW M Driving Experience at the Misano circuit in Italy.
"There is no other brand that has motorsport so deeply rooted in its DNA as BMW M,” Rossi said.
“I am proud to be a BMW M works driver, and to share this passion. The fact that there is now a special VR46 edition, in which I was involved from the very beginning of the design process, makes me proud.
“When I see the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 out on the road or on the race track later, it will be very cool.”
The two version of the car will come in differing shades of blue with the design also incorporating yellow accents which have been a feature of Rossi’s career.
Yellow detailing and additional 46 branding is a feature of the interior of the car, which will come with a 3.0-litre, six‑cylinder engine producing 550hp and capable of taking the car to an electronically limited 187mph.
No details have been revealed on pricing, or availability for the UK market.
